RITA FITZGERALD SMALLER

Rita Fitzgerald is a presenter and journalist at UTV and U105, where she has been working for the past six years. In that time Rita has presented the popular six-part archaeology series ‘Ulster Unearthed’, which revealed the stories of Northern Ireland’s past and its Ulster-Scots links.

Rita regularly presents UTV’s flagship news programme UTV Live at Six and is the main presenter for the breakfast news bulletins for Good Morning Britain.

Following her initial degree in Social Sciences, Rita spent a number of years in France before returning to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism at Leeds University.

Before joining UTV Rita presented a mid-morning radio current affairs talk show at 7fm (now part of Q Network) and freelanced at the BBC.

Rita hosts events across Northern Ireland including awards ceremonies and gala events. She is an ambassador for Tiny Life premature baby charity.

Outside of work Rita enjoys singing, socialising and spending valuable time with her husband John and energetic 4 year old daughter Ellie.
